JTLS-GO

Backend Server Hardware Guidance

Computer hardware equipment is continually being improved. This information represents the nominal JTLS-GO requirements. Users are urged to purchase the most capable machines within their budget constraints. Machines with faster processor speeds (greater than 2.8 GHz), more memory (greater than 32 GB), and more disk space (greater than 500 GB) are acceptable and encouraged. The end result will be a computer hardware architecture that will be useful well into the future.

If JTLS-GO will be used to support large training exercises, we strongly encourages users to purchase a fully functioning backup server. Hardware failures do occur and a backup server is a relatively low cost insurance policy which may be the difference between an unsuccessful end to an exercise and the successful completion of an expensive training event. JTLS-GO has been designed to have all of the processes operate on similar computer systems to make it easy to re-distribute executing processes, when and if a catastrophic hardware failure occurs during a critical training exercise event.

Game Servers

Game servers are used to execute JTLS-GO backend and core services. Depending on client’s need, three or more game servers are recommended.

  • CPU: Intel Xeon
  • Memory: 128G RAM
  • Storage: 2TB SSD in RAID configuration
  • Display monitor: 1920x1080 recommended
  • Operating System: One of the following operating systems: Red Hat Linux Enterprise Server 64-bit Linux 9.6 (subscription-based, costs dependent on what support level desired), or Oracle 64-bit Linux 9.6 (free licensing)
Example: Dell PowerEdge R670 with dual processors
  • Dual processors: Intel® Xeon® 6 Efficient 6710E 2.4G, 64C/64T, 24GT/s, 96M Cache, Turbo, (205W) DDR5-5600
  • Memory: Upgraded to 128GB RAM
  • Storage: Upgraded to 5 x 1.92TB SSD SATA Drives (RAID 5 plus spare)

Database Server

A single server dedicated to hosting the PostgreSQL database service.

  • CPU: Intel Xeon
  • Memory: 64G RAM
  • Storage: 4TB SSD in RAID configuration
  • Display monitor: 1920x1080 recommended
  • Operating System: One of the following operating systems: Red Hat Linux Enterprise Server 64-bit Linux 9.6 (subscription-based, costs dependent on what support level desired), or Oracle 64-bit Linux 9.6 (free licensing)
Example: Dell PowerEdge R670 with dual processors
  • Dual processors: Intel® Xeon® 6 Efficient 6710E 2.4G, 64C/64T, 24GT/s, 96M Cache, Turbo, (205W) DDR5-5600
  • Memory: 64GB RAM
  • Storage: 5 x 1.92TB SSD SATA Drives (RAID 5 plus spare)
